Gary Bates works in the Howard County Sheriff Department’s Warrant Division. He’s also their IDACS coordinator. It’s his job to keep tabs on warrants served in Howard County. But what happens when a wanted person runs across the county line? What if they run across multiple county lines?
Thanks to JTAC’s Protection Order Registry and INcite, distance is no longer a factor in keeping wanted persons off the streets.
When Bates came into work on April 7th, he received a message from INcite advising him that the Marion County Superior Criminal Court 3, over 40 miles south, had issued a No Contact Order, also through INcite.
Bates took a look at the order and noticed the person had an active warrant in Howard County. Bates contacted Marion County law enforcement and learned the person was taken back to a Marion County jail for disposition.
Officer Bates requested a hold on the wanted individual and served the active warrant for Failure to Appear and Resisting Law Enforcement.
Thanks to INcite, the POR and Gary Bates, a wanted person is off the streets.
