The Indiana Supreme Court has agreed to invest an additional $1.1 million to acquire a computer system to provide advanced probation, community corrections, and other court supervisions functions, Justice Frank Sullivan, Jr., told the leadership of the Probation Officers’ Professional Association of Indiana at its monthly meeting today. The new features will comprise the “Supervision Module” of the Supreme Court’s Odyssey Case Management System, a computer system that Indiana trial courts and court clerks use to record and manage information on pending cases, Sullivan said.
Odyssey Q and A
If we install Odyssey, what will we have to pay for?
Most expenses are covered by JTAC, but we know counties need information up front to help plan and budget. We have shared the list of anticipated project expenses and the party responsible for funding each part with our Phase 2 Counties. The information was posted on the JTAC website and is online at http://www.in.gov/judiciary/jtac/docs/cms/phase2-costs.pdf
Data Conversion
During Phase 2 of the Odyssey rollout, JTAC will work with each county to determine what data, if any, should be converted to Odyssey.
During Phase 1, data was converted from two different legacy systems. Part of our Phase 2 strategy is to work with additional legacy case management systems to determine the “best practice” for conversion for each system.
Although JTAC plans to cover the costs of data conversion, the county could also be responsible for funding a portion of these expenses. A data conversion policy statement is currently being developed for the CMS Project and will be available soon to provide additional information.
Electronic Tax Warrant system launched
Electronic system replacing paper – Indiana clerks process more than 1.27 million tax warrants a year. In almost one third of Indiana counties warrants are still recorded by hand, a time-consuming, inefficient process. In counties using electronic systems, clerks must pay for a software system.
17 counties are now using the JTAC electronic Warrant Registry, available at no cost to county clerks.
Protection Order Registry – Now Deployed in 70% of Indiana Counties
