Judge Bonfiglio Receives Community Partner of the Year Award

Judge David C. Bonfiglio of Elkhart Superior Court 6 received the 2013 Community Partner of the Year Award from the Indiana Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) at their annual conference in Indianapolis on Sept. 30th.
Mark Fairchild, Executive Director, NASW Indiana Chapter outlined the criteria for the award. The award recipient must:
- Make a significant contribution to an area or population of concern to the social work profession such as
- at-risk or vulnerable populations
- quality of life in communities
- social issues
- Act with courage
- Demonstrate outstanding leadership
- Exemplify social work values and ethics
From Nominating Petition: Judge Bonfiglio has methodically worked to shape Elkhart County family law practice to be responsive to families as Juvenile Magistrate and Superior Court Judge. He has created a foundation upon which families can grow cooperatively and positively. Due to his leadership and vision, his ability to collaborate and strategize, and his unwavering focus on families, Judge Bonfiglio has created an environment that encourages relationship building, durable and constructive problem solving and parents who are empowered to do the right thing by their children. This shift represents a major systemic change that influences professionals in multiple disciplines and positively impacts families in Elkhart County.
